Industrial Landscapes – Ole Morten Rokvam and Rune Nylund Larsen
Rune Nylund Larsen "Rjukanbanen I".

The exhibition presents ceramics and photography that explore the industrial landscape, inspired by the industrial heritage of Rjukan–Notodden and its World Heritage history. Artists Ole Morten Rokvam and Rune Nylund Larsen often exhibit together, and for this exhibition they present new works. The solo exhibition is shown throughout Hall 2.

Ole Morten Rokvam

Ole Morten Rokvam (b. 1963) is based in Risør, where he also runs his own gallery. Rokvam works with ceramics and sculpture. He describes his practice as follows:

“My goal is to create unique objects that can either serve a practical purpose or exist as pure sculptures meant to spark curiosity, new thoughts, and a ‘link’ to the historical — often within architecture or industry.”

Rune Nylund Larsen

Rune Nylund Larsen (b. 1970) is also based in Risør. He works with photography and has for many years explored the industrial landscape.

“I seek my way into the buildings, into the darkness, to the machines, to the sound and smell of industry. To the landscapes hidden, mysterious, behind fences and high walls. Here, I bring with me childhood memories from a time when my father, grandfather, and great-grandfather all worked in industry. Here, I create the backdrops for the stories told at family gatherings. Here, I set up my camera on a tripod and let the available light leave its mark on the images in exposures lasting several minutes.”
