Practical info

We are very lucky to have many guests visiting us during the summer. The road down to the parking lot at Vemork is very narrow, and to ensure the best possible experience for everyone who visits us, we regulate traffic during the summer season.

There is extensive construction work on the hill up to Vemork until the public holidays. Please pay close attention! The work and many visitors make access up the hill extra demanding for everyone. The construction work continues until July 4. Please contact the reception at Vemork – in advance – if you need to use your own car all the way up. We are available by phone at 35 09 90 00.

Drive to Vemork

You are welcome to park with us, but you cannot choose where and how to park your car. Our parking attendants will help you with access and parking in the designated areas.

Cycle to Vemork

All cyclists – including motorcyclists – are invited to take their vehicles up to the area below the heavy water cellar. This saves space and creates less issues at the parking lot by Våer and in the square in front of the museum.

Hike to Vemork

Hikers are welcome. It is exciting to arrive at Vemork via Sluskedilten and we recommend the idyllic nature of Kraftledningsveien rather than the main road up from Rjukan. Remember to follow road signs, and take it easy when you have to use the main road, and wear high-visibility hiking clothing.

Parking and shuttle bus

This summer, a shuttle bus runs between the parking lot and the museum until August 16th. This is included in the ticket price.

Parking at Vemork bridge and shuttle bus
The parking lot is used by both museum guests and guests for outdoor experiences. Regardless of why you need to use the parking lot, you must pay a fee.

There is approximately 800 meters from the parking lot at Vemork bridge to the museum, with hills all the way. You are welcome to walk up to the museum, or you can use the shuttle bus.

BUS 1 between Vemork bridge and Vemork
